Giancarlo Mazzanti is a leading architect of public works in Columbia and head of the architectural firm El Equipo de Mazzanti. He taught at several Colombian Universities and at Princeton University in 2012. In spring 2014 he will teach at Harvard. He received national and international awards and honors. He won the XX Colombian Architecture Biennial in the category of public space in 2006 and the Ibero-American Biennial in the category of Best Architectonic Work in 2008.

Most of his architecture involves social values at its main core and it aims to empower transformations and build community. Amongst some of his most relevant projects are the Convention Center, Biblioteca España and the South American Games Coliseums in Medellín, Colombia. His passion lays in adapting architecture to make it capable of changing behavior. In Colombia he tried to reduce social inequality by introducing social inclusion and creating possibilities for communal interaction in architecture.
